Mathrubhumi Seed Celebrates World Wetland Day

On Feb 2nd SEED members of VPS Venganoor and GGHSS Venganoor celebrated World Wetland Day. The SEED Members went to Vellayani Lake and visited wetland at Kakamoola. Classes were taken by Principal Scientist of Kerala State Biodiversity Board Dr. Linda John, Deputy Forest Ranger Udayanan Nair and Voluntary Group Thaneerthadam members. The SEED members were able to observe different varieties of bird species which included mainly migrant birds and local birds which had their habitat at these wetands. They were able to understand the importance of wetland in conserving the rich biodiversity wich it holds and how it helps to be a source of frest water at times of drought. They got a insight in what are the problems at present wetlands are facing and pledged to protect it and volunatarily work for its conservation.
